Bicycles

Cycling is a popular way for students to travel to school.

There is a bike rack located behind the Tuckshop. Bicycles must be housed in this area during school hours. Students are responsible for the safety of their bikes. We recommend all students use a chain or other locking device to ensure the security of their bike. Helmets can be taken up to the port racks.

For the safety of everyone, students must walk their bike in all areas of the school grounds.

Travelling to school

Buderim Mountain State School is located in the heart of Buderim Village on Main Street, close to bus stops and with safe pedestrian access. To limit traffic in the streets of Buderim and also encourage environmentally sustainable travel methods, we encourage families to consider alternative means of arriving at school, other than by car. Below are some links to useful PDFs about alternative travel methods including cycling, walking and catching the bus.

We also offer a Walking Wednesdays program that runs every week with support from the local police and community volunteers. To register your child and find out more information about the Walking Wednesdays commencement locations, ask at the school office for a registration form.

For more information about public transport options, including registering for a student bus pass, please contact CDC Queensland on (07) 5476 6622, view the current bus route (https://cdcqueensland.com.au/wp-content/uploads/21209_CDCQLD_school_map_buderim_mountain_AM.pdf) or go to the CDC website at cdcqueensland.com.au .

What is TravelSmart Sunshine Coast?

The TravelSmart Schools program aims to:

  • Raise awareness about the impacts of high car usage on our environment and community;

  • Improve road safety by reducing traffic congestion around our school

  • Encourage children to make independent travel choices by recognising the influences of ‘the car culture’.

How can your family be TravelSmart?

Travelling smart to and from school is simple; all you need to do is leave the car at home and walk, cycle, catch public transport or carpool instead. You can make a difference, even if it is only one day a week! Click on the links below for more information.
