Buderim Mountain State School has a large and successful Instrumental Music program which offers tuition on Brass, Woodwind, Percussion and String instruments.
Aside from a nominal annual fee (for the purchase of music and instrument maintenance), tuition and band rehearsals are free and are delivered by specialist teachers with years of experience.
In their first year of lessons, students will receive a school instrument for use after which, students will need their own instrument. Some of the instruments however are available all through their schooling such as French horns, euphoniums, baritones, bass clarinets, tubas and the double bass.
Interested students will be assigned an instrument based on test scores (through classroom music) combined with the kind of instrument that they prefer and their suitability according to their physical attributes. These considerations will be taken into account by the specialist teacher during school time - before a decision is made.
