At
Buderim Mountain State School we encourage students to participate in annual
community events, and also invite children’s families into the school to
celebrate and participate in internal events. We believe having strong
community ties and active family participation in children’s schooling is vital
to a positive school experience, and helps children become fulfilled and active
citizens.
Annual school events include
Book Week parade:
Students from Prep to Year 2 dress up as a character from their favourite book
as part of The Children’s Book Council of Australia ‘Book Week’
celebrations. The event usually takes place in August and runs in conjunction
with other activities promoting Australian authors and illustrators, and the
importance of reading.
Easter Hat Parade:
Every year students in Prep and Year 1 participate in the Easter hat parade.
Parents and children work together to create an Easter hat or bonnet, which is
worn by students during the show as part of our broader Easter celebrations.
Christmas Concert: A source of great
excitement for our junior school students is the Christmas Concert. Featuring
an array of musical performances, including many well-loved Christmas carols,
it’s an event not to be missed.
Community events
ANZAC Day: The Buderim community hosts
an annual parade which proceeds from the top of Burnett Street and finishes at
the Memorial Gates of our school, with an ANZAC service following in the
memorial pine plantation. Students are invited to march in the parade, and
children who participate in three ANZAC or Australia Day parades are awarded a
Buderim Badge for Service.
Australia Day: The
Buderim Australia Day Grand Parade follows the same route as the ANZAC Day
parade, and once again finishes in our school grounds, but this time finishes with
games and various activities held on our school oval.
