The
teaching staff at Buderim Mountain State School use school incursions and
excursions to reinforce the national curriculum, make it applicable to the real
world, and also expand and develop children’s capabilities.
Incursions
and excursions are scheduled every term for all students in years P-6.
Incursions are held on school premises by external suppliers, and examples
include Arts Council theatre performances, Healthy Harold lessons and the
Cosmodome Science Theatre and Planetarium. Examples of local excursions include
visits to the Buderim Heritage Cottage and Australia Zoo.
All
excursions are planned in advance and parental permission to attend will be
sought prior to the event. Participation incurs a small fee.
The
highlight of our Year 6 students’ calendar is the annual adventure camp at
Noosa North Shore. Aimed at building leadership skills, improving teamwork
capabilities and enhancing peer relationships, activities include mountain
biking, bushwalking, canoeing, high ropes courses and more. We strongly encourage all students to participate and a payment is required.
