Support offered by our Special Education Program is individualised and developed for students with a diagnosed or imputed disability who require differentiated, supplementary, substantial or extensive support for an extended period of time.  Education Queensland provides funding through the Reasonable Adjustments Resourcing (RAR) model. Support options are both school and community based and aim to foster every student's ability to participate in all aspects of the learning environment.

Support is predominantly based on an Inclusive Education model, where a range of strategies are available to staff and parents to support the diverse needs of individual students.  Supports can range from classroom differentiation strategies to intensive one-on-one teaching for periods of the day.

Students are also offered programs on a needs basis in social skilling, life skills, oral language, gross and fine motor, high school transition as well as any additional support required in numeracy and literacy.

Programs focus on balancing both education and social participation. Formal and informal meetings with parents to discuss these programs help the transfer of goals between home, specialists, therapists and school environments.

In order to support our students holistically we need to take into account all possible information.  It is therefore highly recommended to share any medical or specialist information with school staff and we encourage open communication between the school environment and any specialists or therapists.  This can lead to better outcomes for students
