Buderim Mountain State School believes regular communication with parents creates a vital partnership and we strive to work closely with every student, their families and the community to provide an outstanding education.
Your child's classroom teacher is your first point of contact, and we welcome the opportunity to constructively discuss any aspects of a student's education. This includes their progress, or school procedures, including concerns or compliments. We do ask that you keep communication with teachers outside of class time to ensure children's lessons are not impacted.
Our other staff including the school Chaplain, Deputy Principals, HOSES and Principal are also happy to meet with you and support your family's needs.
Email
Effective communication and positive relationships amongst staff and between parents/caregivers and staff, is a foundation for Buderim Mountain State School achieving an outstanding culture and reputation. One way of reaching this level of excellence in communication and positive relationships, is by implementing suitable protocols in relation to email communication. This aims to consider the balance between effective email communication with the wellbeing and work life balance of staff and parents/caregivers alike.
Parents and carers are asked to understand the time limitations in a teacher's day and not send emails between the hours of 5:00pm and 7:00am. Please anticipate teachers will respond to parent inquiries within three business days. This response period may depend on teacher availability or the nature of the action that the correspondence requires.
Any email to school or teachers is to be used for official school purposes only, and we remind all parties to communicate in a way that is brief, factual, timely and respectful.
The leadership team may send correspondence over weekends, holiday periods or out of hours, if necessary, to support the leadership of the school.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent-Teacher interviews in Term 1 and Term 3 each year are a key strategy in establishing productive partnerships, positive relationships and trust between parents and staff. The interviews provide parents with an insight into their child's current learning, including their strengths and future areas to focus on for improvement. At Buderim Mountain State School, we use an online booking system for interviews via Schoolzine (SZapp) where parents can book times that suit both them and the classroom teacher.
Report Cards
Report Cards are handed out at the start of Term 3 and end of Term 4. Parents are welcome to approach class teachers if they wish to discuss their children's progress. Parents may make an appointment to discuss the Report Card by contacting their class teacher.
Newsletters
Newsletters are published twice a term and available on our school website, via the QSchools app, and via email (where parents/carers have provided the school with an email address).
