At
Buderim Mountain State School we believe literacy is essential to children’s
development. We aim to foster a love of reading in all students by providing a
diverse array of reading materials in a friendly and ambient environment.
Our Library contains over 27,000 resources and is a source of
both joy and education to all students.
Borrowing
Each
year, there are approximately 70,000 loans to students and 25,000 to staff. All
classes have a set borrowing time during class time so students can regularly loan books. Students are also allowed to borrow books before and after
school and during first lunch break.
Books
can be borrowed for a maximum of two weeks and are limited as follows:
Prep: One book
Years 1-2: Two books
Years
3-6: Three books (including one magazine)
Lunchtime use
All
students from Years 1-6 can visit the library during lunch between 11:05-11:30 am.
During this time they can participate in activities like reading, chess and
drawing.
Library Helpers
Many
students with a passion for literacy will enjoy spending their free time at the
library. To recognise and encourage their interest, students in Years 5 and 6
are eligible to be library helpers, and perform duties before school or at
lunch time.
