Athletics, Cross Country and Rep Sport

With a large sports oval on our campus and a community focus on health and wellbeing, it's no coincidence that many of Buderim Mountain State School's students make the district, regional, and even state sporting teams.

Students have the opportunity to attend district trials for several school sports including, cricket, netball, soccer, touch football, rugby league, swimming, cross country, basketball, hockey and Australian rules football to name a few. These trials occur outside of school hours.  Once selected in a district team, students compete with the district team at the regional trials.  If a student makes the regional team, they then participate in the state championships.  All representative sporting trials and events are advertised internally and on our website calendar, as the dates come to hand.

Our senior and junior athletics carnivals are both held on our school oval.  Students train in athletics as part of their HPE lessons as a prelude to our annual school athletics carnival. The senior athletics carnival is held during term 2, while the junior school competes in term 3. High performing children from years 4-6 join our representative teams and compete in the District athletics carnival.

The whole school Cross Country event is also held annually, with participation expected by all able students from Prep to Year 6. Students who perform at the top of their age group are given the opportunity to represent their school at the Nambour District Cross Country Carnival.
